GOAL
The 19th Amendment guaranteed the right to vote for most women in America, and its 100th anniversary came right at the height of the early pandemic. Working through T Brand Studio, Mass Mutual wanted to celebrate the occasion with a group of their employees reading an excerpt from a Susan B. Anthony speech back to camera in our studio. But with COVID still largely on the rise, we knew we needed to find a solution for minimizing our headcount in the studio.

APPROACH
We designed and built a robot to remotely control our camera’s position, tilt, pan, focus, zoom and exposure. This allowed our crew to set up the equipment in advance, and then when the talent entered the empty studio, control the camera and lights from a distance.

RESULTS
Through our agency partners at T Brand, it promoted women’s equality and encouraged readers to share their vision for a more equitable future. But as proud of we are of the product, we also look back on this process as a great example of our team’s ability to find smart solutions to big problems under pressure. The remote-controlled camera robot debuted for this project, and would continue to be a useful tool as the pandemic continued over the next two years.
