Windy names Malakhai Pearson 2023 Artist in Residence
We are excited to announce that our dear friend and collaborator Malakhai Pearson has been named the 2023 Windy Artist in Residence. Malakhai's work focuses on the intersection of commercial and cultural projects, and has served major brands such as Nike, Puma, New Balance, Concepts, Santander Bank, and Converse. As AIR, Malakhai has a dedicated desk on the third floor, and access to the first floor studio for his own productions.
Pearson is the owner and operator of Thunder Road Projects, a culture focused production company that was founded in April of 2022.
In his personal work, he focuses on music, sport, fashion and the cutlure surrounding it. He is an avid MMA fan and DJ’s on occasion. His favorite film of all time is “The Social Network” and aslo really enjoys “Fallen Angels."
Malakhai grew up in Framingham, MA, where he wrestled for the Flyers under Jon Kannavich and moved to East Boston in 2013.
He is also a founding member of the creative collective ALLYOUCANEAT where he acts as the lead experience producer and content director. He also collaborates often with NYC based Director/Photographer, Adam Jason Cohen. Together the two made the 2021 short film “Leaned Back”.
The AIR program first launched back in 2020 with OJ Slaughter as a way of extending Windy's resources to support local artists with access to our network, equipment and studio.
We can't wait to see what amazing work Malakhai can make here!
